Our Charter

The Race Committee's charter is to organise and provide a quality 10 kilometre road race for serious runners, and amateur joggers alike.

History

The race is organised by the 1st Woodley Scout Group. Race committee members have varied interests /attributes including, running enthusiasts, volunteer fund raisers or were simply press ganged into helping out for a good cause.

The Woodley 10k & 3k road races are a main source of fundraising with the proceeds going to the 1st Woodley Scout Group which is a registered Charity. This enables us to provide an exciting programme for local Boys and Girls aged from 6yrs  - 14.5 yrs. Please visit our website for more information www.1stwoodleyscouts.co.uk where details are available of how your child can join.

As we are a voluntary organisation we are always looking for helpers, if you can offer any spare time with the running of the group or helping out on any of our events we would be delighted to hear from you.

You could also help by visiting our web shop where we earn commission on all your purchases from major High Street retailer's websites at no extra cost to you. In fact you pay exactly the same price as on the retailers main sites, often lower than on the high street.

Last year's race 2006 we introduced new technology 'Electronic Chip Timing' to the Woodley 10k and 3k races

Due to the growing popularity of the races, this lead us to take the decision to step into the 21st century and use computer assisted technology to time runners. This will eliminate human error caused when enthusiastic runners cross the finish line more than once.

This will provide accurate race timings
